The Cancer Center

My first cancer appointment was this morning. I thought I would be late, I'm late to everything. But I made it on time. Pulling in, seeing the word "CANCER" on a building, and knowing that I'm going in there for treatment was too much. It was a struggle to keep the tears in my eyes. I walked in to the AZ Cancer Center (it is a really nice place, everyone is VERY accommodating and nice) the player piano was playing The Beatles ("Something"). I don't know if that comforted me, or made me even more emotional.

My consultation was long, lots of information, and scary. Long story short...in two weeks, I am scheduled to have 12 sq.cm. removed from my right forearm. And having lymph nodes removed from my under arm, they will be tested to see if my cancer has spread. And we will go from there.

I will have a pretty big scar on my arm, but it's a small price to pay for a procedure that can honestly save my life. After having a caesarean, I'm no stranger to surgery. Except with my C, I got to bring home a baby. This time, I am bringing home the hope that I will be okay. I cried the whole way home.
